Sanaz Nakhjavani

Sanaz Nakhjavani (Piano, Kanun)

Sanaz was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. She discovered the joy of teaching when started to teach piano to children in 1999. She finished her BA degrees in Music and Spanish language and literature in Iran, Tehran. In 2008 she moved to Istanbul, Turkey to continue her studies in Turkish music and Kanun performances and she accomplished an MA degree in the mentioned field from Istanbul Technical University, Turkish Music Conservatory. After moving to Canada in 2014 she became interested in the Montessori philosophy and method and received Montessori elementary training and earned an elementary Diploma from Toronto Montessori Institute (TMI) in 2017 and achieved a MACTE Montessori Elementary Diploma.

She has been teaching piano since 1999 to children of various ages. Her passion is about creating fostering and engaging educational environments to plant the love of learning and self-motivation.

She has performed with different ensembles since 1998 in Tehran and then in Turkey and Canada, such as Mixta, Spiral Modes, Andalibi Ensemble, audiopollination, OBEY Convention and Blue Dot. She has also contributed to various albums, the most significant ones are, Showqname (2012), From Rey to Roum (2013) and Rehavi (2014), Hezar Gisoo (2018), From Persian Garden (2021).
