Laya Alemohammad (piano)
Laya Alemohammad is a a pianist and music educator. She is a Royal Conservatory of Music Certified Teacher and an active member of Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association. Laya has been teaching piano, solfege, theory and rudiments to students of all ages and levels for more than 15 years. She graduated from Tehran Conservatory in Music Education in classical and Iranian instruments as well as Material Ceramic Engineering from Azad University.
She has started her musical training in Iran from very young age under well-known pedagogues such as Farman Behboud. Whether teaching to a student with aspirations of pursing music professionally, or an someone who wants to enjoy and appreciate piano playing, she strivers to train well-rounded musicians. She emphasizes vital skills including sight-reading, ear-training, music theory, basic music history, and living music outside the lessons. Fundamentally, she believes that music learning should be curiosity-driven, active, enjoyable and emphasize self- expression.
